MLCE:

Modular Load Carrying Equipment

MLCE is a new webbing system developed by Web-tex, which is very similar in principle to the US MOLLE system.

Like MOLLE, it uses rows of heavy duty nylon stitched in a criss-cross pattern known as PALs. PALs stands for Pouch Attachment Ladder system.

MLCE Assault Vest The pouches have straps at the back, which are threaded in and out of the PALs webbing and then attached back onto the pouch using a press stud (or popper).

Assault Vests (and to a lesser extent Chest Rigs) have become very popular in the forces, but have the disadvantage of being in a fixed format.

The MLCE system (like the US MOLLE system) overcomes this by having detachable pouches.

So you can build your rig exactly how you want it, and change it to suit your current operation.
The MLCE system comprises:

  • A vest with PALs webbing, incorporating a modular belt - use this to build your personalised assault vest
  • A rig with PALs webbing - use this to build your personalised chest rig
  • Various pouches for attachment to the vest or rig

There are a large number of pouches available - all made from fully treated 1000 denier Cordura.

They are only available in British DPM.

The following pouches are currently available:

  • Water Bottle Pouch - very similar to the PLCE Water Bottle Pouch, it has a main pouch for the water bottle and a small pouch for purification tablets etc.
  • Utility Pouch - again, very similar to the PLCE Utility Pouch with one main pouch
  • Double SA80 Pouch - 2 pouches which can each hold 3 SA80 mags, up to 6 M16 or Fa-mas magazines, or up to 4 Aug, G36c, or AK47 magazines
  • Single Mag Pouch - a single pouch which can hold 1 M16 magazine
  • Double Mag Pouch - a single pouch which can hold 2 M16 magazines
  • Double AK Pouch - 2 pouches which can hold up to 6 AK47 or G3A3 magazines, or 8 M16 magazines, or 4 G36c magazines
  • Trauma Pouch - the same size as the Utility Pouch, this pouch has a main compartment with a small sub-compartment, 2 side compartments, and 2 front compartments which unfold for easy access.
  • Grenade Pouch
  • Large Belt Pouch
  • Combi Pouch
  • GPS/Radio Pouch
  • Ambidextrous Pistol Pouch
  • Knife Pouch

I am sure the MLCE range is going to be very popular with airsoft and paintball enthusiasts, as well as with regular forces, TA and cadets.
